We are seeking a talented Technical Translator (Japanese-English) with a strong engineering background to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating technical documents, manuals, and engineering specifications between Japanese and English while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency. You will work closely with engineering teams to bridge communication gaps, support project development, and ensure smooth collaboration with Japanese counterparts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate technical documents, user manuals, and specifications from Japanese to English and vice versa.
  • Collaborate with engineers to accurately interpret and convey complex technical information.
  • Review and edit translations to ensure precision, clarity, and industry-standard terminology.
  • Provide interpretation support during technical meetings, discussions, and workshops.
  • Assist in localization of products, marketing content, and training material for global markets.
  • Maintain translation memory, glossaries, and technical terminology databases.
  • Keep updated with engineering trends and industry-specific terminology.

Skills & Qualifications

  • JLPT N3 or higher certification required.
  • Graduate in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • 3–8 years of experience in technical translation, ideally in automotive/motor vehicle or engineering domains.
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts, terminology, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Attention to detail with strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with translation software such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
