As part of our efforts to streamline IT operations and ensure governance, we are hiring a Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to oversee our software inventory, optimize licensing, and contribute to IT management best practices.
Role Overview
The SAM Specialist will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of software assets across the organization. This includes ensuring license compliance, optimizing usage, and supporting IT management by aligning software asset strategies with infrastructure planning, procurement, and service delivery. The role involves close coordination with IT Operations, Security, Procurement, and Finance teams to support overall IT governance, cost control, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee the end-to-end software asset lifecycle—from acquisition and deployment to maintenance and retirement.
- Inventory Management: Maintain and update a centralized inventory of software assets through SAM and IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools (e.g., Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow).
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure accurate mapping of software installations across servers, devices, and users.
- Integration: Integrate software asset data with the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT service management platforms to support broader IT management and change processes.
- Data-Driven Insights: Provide data-driven insights into software usage, license compliance, and vendor performance to support IT management in decision-making.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure software installations align with IT security policies and compliance requirements.
- Procurement Coordination: Partner with IT Procurement and Finance teams to manage renewals, budget forecasts, and contract negotiations.
- Policy Development: Contribute to IT governance by developing and enforcing policies for software usage, approval workflows, and asset lifecycle management.
- Audit Support: Assist with software audits and provide reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate tools, processes, and policies to improve SAM and IT asset control maturity.
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–6 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or related IT operations roles.
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL, or related certifications in ITAM or SAM.

Tools & Skills:
- Proficiency in SAM/ITAM tools like Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, Lansweeper, or others. Knowledge of SNOW tool will be preferred.
- Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements for vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and Adobe.
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and integration with IT service management platforms.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills; experience with Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to collaborate across IT, finance, procurement, and audit teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
