Hardware Test Engineering Lead

Experience: 7–9 Years

Location: IBC Knowledge Park, Bengaluru

Salary:  14-18 Years 

Reporting To: Team Lead – Manufacturing Engineering (Hardware Assembly)

Position Overview

The Hardware Test Engineering Lead will own the end-to-end hardware testing strategy for EV electronic components. This role involves leading test engineering teams, driving ATE development, and ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability of hardware systems in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of hardware test engineers
  • Define hardware test strategy, roadmap, and execution plans
  • Develop test plans, specifications, and validation criteria
  • Own ATE development and delivery (ICT, FCT, FPT)
  • Drive test equipment selection and vendor collaboration
  • Oversee test fixtures, jigs, and automation solutions
  • Manage tester documentation (BOM, Control Plans, FMEA)
  • Lead PPAP, equipment stabilization, and RCA activities
  • Forecast NREs, cycle times, yields, TAKT, and OEE
  • Make strategic make-vs-buy decisions for test systems

Must-Have Skills & Competencies

  • Strong experience in ATE development (ICT, FCT, FPT)
  • Hands-on expertise in test automation and scripting
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware systems
  • Proficiency in communication protocols: CAN, SPI, UART, Ethernet
  • Experience designing test jigs, fixtures, and tools
  • Proven leadership in managing teams, vendors, and projects

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with NI LabVIEW for test automation
  • Exposure to wireless testing (4G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth)
  • Understanding of MCU/MPU architectures
  • Knowledge of DFT, FMEA, MSA, and Gage R&R
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (DSO, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Thermal Chambers)

Qualifications

  • B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, ECE, Instrumentation, or related fields
  • 7–9 years of experience in hardware testing and ATE development
  • Experience in Automotive, EV, IoT, or Consumer Electronics domains
