Job Description

Job Title: Engineer – Specials

Department: MillerKnoll Specials Engineering

Reports To: Team Leader – MillerKnoll Specials, Bengaluru

Purpose of the Role

The Engineer – Specials will contribute to the development, modification, and support of MillerKnoll products by applying fundamental engineering principles and standardized processes. Working under direct guidance, the role involves analyzing product information, developing generic bills of materials, supporting manufacturing, and ensuring smooth engineering workflows. This position emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and consistent delivery of quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply basic engineering skills and standardized processes to assigned tasks.
  • Create and manage generic bills of materials (BOM) and assist in developing item masters and routings.
  • Modify existing designs with a basic understanding of design intent and application of MillerKnoll products.
  • Take structured notes, documenting work, assumptions, and solutions clearly.
  • Support problem-solving activities and daily engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and configuration software teams.
  • Ensure adherence to MillerKnoll Performance Systems (MKPS) and lean principles.
  • Conduct primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations.
  • Utilize engineering tools/software: Pro-E/Creo, PDM Link, BOM Compare, BAAN/JDE, Confluence, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, cost estimates, and development of engineering criteria.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support business objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in product engineering, continuous improvement, or new product development.
  • Proficiency in Pro-E/Creo (or equivalent 3D CAD software), including modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of bills of materials and configuration management.
  • Basic understanding of lean principles and ability to identify waste within processes.
  • Competence in MS Office tools and general engineering communication software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic understanding of how engineering decisions impact business results.
