Associate Principal – Architecture (Backup & Cloud Solutions)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Principal – Architecture to design and implement robust backup and recovery architectures using Rubrik across hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in enterprise backup technologies (Rubrik, Commvault, Veritas, Veeam) and a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and disaster recovery frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Architecture & Implementation:

  • Design, develop, and implement Rubrik backup solutions across hybrid, on-premises, and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Create and maintain high-level (HLD) and low-level designs (LLD) for Rubrik-based architectures.

  1. Rubrik Expertise:

  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of Rubrik CDM, RBS, Polaris, and Rubrik APIs.
  • Configure and optimize Rubrik SLA Domains, archival policies, cloud replication, and compliance workflows.
  • Manage large-scale Rubrik clusters, including capacity planning, software upgrades, and performance tuning.

  1. Integration & Cloud Management:

  • Integrate Rubrik with AWS, Azure, GCP, and virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Implement cloud-native backups and cloud archiving using AWS S3, Azure Blob, and GCP Storage.

  1. Disaster Recovery & Compliance:

  • Design and orchestrate disaster recovery (DR) strategies and runbooks.
  • Ensure compliance and operational excellence through automation and best practices.

  1. Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for backup and recovery.
  • Train customers and internal teams on installation, configuration, and recovery processes.
  • Provide proposals and solutions aligned with client requirements and technical best practices.

Technical Skills Required

Mandatory Skills:

  • Backup Technologies: Rubrik (Core Skill), Commvault, Veritas, Veeam, Cohesity
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Virtualization: VMware ESXi, Hyper-V
  • Infrastructure: Windows/Linux OS, SAN/NAS, Networking
  • Scripting & Automation: Python, PowerShell, REST API, Terraform, Ansible (Good to have)
  • Monitoring/Tools: AppDynamics, ScienceLogic AIOps, DataDog, VMware vRealize Automation
  • Networking & Load Balancing: Cisco, Netscaler, F5
  • Storage: EMC, Hitachi

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BE / B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Experience: 12 – 15 years of relevant experience in Backup Architecture and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Function: CIS – Private Cloud
  • Competency Level: P6 / P5
